Dave Carlson

Experienced CEO, CTO, and founder of multiple tech companies.

Under the banner of my own company, I have served in several roles. I have served as the Vice Chairman of Orange County’s Oversight Committee. I have also written and published my own book on leadership entitled Death By Ego. I also manage a few passive investments in young companies and provide technology consulting services, especially in blockchain, to early-stage companies.

My business card reads "Chief Jamcracker." The jamcrackers were the lumberjacks who went on to the large logjams, found the obstructions, removed them, and restored the flow; often at great risk. My recent consulting practice has had this flavor (without the part about the great risk.) In the last few years, I have restored the flow of products in a global manufacturing business and the flow of payments to partners in a Great Plains environment; both within weeks of assuming the assignment.

UC Irvine is a premier university in the UC system. I have been a guest lecturer specializing in blockchain for several semesters. My course introduces programming students to the fundamentals of blockchain technology.

With the transformational technology of LifeSignals, clinical-grade untethered monitoring can be brought to anyone, anywhere, regardless of socioeconomic status or access to facilities.

OC Audit Oversight Committee | Chairman, Vice Chairman

On December 6, 1994, Orange County declared bankruptcy after suffering losses of around $1.6 billion from a wrong-way bet on interest rates in one of its principal investment pools. Following the bankruptcy, Orange County revised many aspects of its control procedures and its financial governance. The Orange County Audit Oversight Committee was created as one of the critical enhancements to governance.

Between 1997 and the present, I have served as the Public Member and Chairman for six years and Vice Chairman for eight years. Also during this period the County of Orange, Internal Audit Department was selected to receive The Institute of Internal Auditors’ Recognition of Commitment (ROC) Award. The County of Orange, Internal Audit Department was one of only twelve internal auditing departments in the world receiving the award in the first half of 2005 and one of 144 since the inception of the award.

LifeSignals was founded on the principle of healthcare without limitations. Inspired by a visit to the hospital, CEO Surendar Magar noticed urgent care patients were immediately hooked up to countless monitors. With his career of developing breakthrough wireless technology, he felt the same could be done in healthcare. Hospital care is expensive, space-limited, and often unnecessary in the age of IoT, AI applications, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cloud-based computing.

With the transformational technology of LifeSignals, clinical-grade untethered monitoring can be brought to anyone, anywhere, regardless of socioeconomic status or access to facilities.
